Hot tub removal in Charlottesville starts at $399. We demo the entire structure, section it for hauling, and clear the footprint โ including tight fenced yards where standard trucks can't reach. This is what the job actually involves and what you need to know before you call.

What Hot Tub Removal Actually Involves
A standard 4โ6 person hot tub weighs 500โ900 lbs empty. Full of water it's 3,000โ4,000 lbs. Hot tubs are too large to remove in one piece โ they have to be demolished on-site and removed in sections. Here's the process:
- Drain first (you do this before we arrive) โ your hot tub must be fully drained before demolition. Most tubs drain through a drain valve to a yard area. We can advise on draining if needed. Do not call us with a full tub โ it's not safe to demo.
- Disconnect electrical (before we arrive) โ most hot tubs run on 240V dedicated circuits. A licensed electrician must disconnect and cap the electrical line before demolition. This is a safety requirement, not optional.
- Cabinet removal โ the outer shell panels come off first to expose the frame and plumbing
- Plumbing and jets removal โ all internal components are stripped
- Shell sectioning โ fiberglass or acrylic shells are cut into manageable sections using reciprocating saws and angle grinders
- Frame demolition โ wood or metal base frame is broken down and hauled
- All materials loaded and hauled โ nothing left behind
- Area cleaned up โ we rake and sweep the footprint
Tight Access โ Fenced Yards and Small Gates
This is the most common concern with hot tub removal in Charlottesville โ the hot tub is in a fenced backyard and the only access is through a gate too small for a wheelbarrow, let alone a full-sized unit. Good news: because we demolish in place, we don't move the hot tub as a whole. We cut it into sections small enough to carry through any standard gate. No gate widening required. Tell us your gate width when you call.
What Can't You Donate From a Hot Tub?
Nothing from a standard residential hot tub is donation-eligible โ the components are too specialized, too worn, and not safely reusable. All materials are hauled to appropriate recycling and disposal facilities. The steel frame goes to metal recyclers. Fiberglass and acrylic shell goes to demolition waste.
Hot Tub Removal FAQ
Do I need to be home? Not necessarily, but you do need to have drained the tub and had electrical disconnected before we arrive. If you can leave access instructions, we can work independently.
What about a wood deck attached to the hot tub? If there's a deck surrounding the hot tub that needs to come down too, we can price it as a combined job. Deck removal pricing starts at $499 for standard structures.
What about concrete pads? We don't remove concrete. The hot tub comes off a concrete or paver pad cleanly. The pad itself stays โ you'd need a concrete contractor for that.
Can you save the hot tub cover and jets? Yes โ just tell us what you want kept when we arrive and we'll set it aside. The rest goes.
